From a Quiet Childhood in India to a Global Professional Journey: The Story of Sagar Gupta

Born and raised in India in a modest household with limited resources, Sagar Gupta’s journey is a testament to patience, resilience, and long-term self-belief. His early years gave little indication of the path he would eventually carve for himself. An average student throughout school and college, Sagar Gupta never scored above 60 percent academically and struggled with confidence, communication, and social interaction.

Extremely quiet and introverted during his early school years, he often stayed on the sidelines—both socially and academically. However, a turning point came during his childhood when he was introduced to cricket by his elder brother while studying in the 3rd standard. What began as a casual introduction soon grew into a deep passion for the sport.

In the 7th standard, Sagar Gupta joined a cricket academy for a summer camp. Although he had to discontinue cricket due to circumstances beyond his control, the sport never left him mentally. After completing his 10th standard in 2014, he made a decisive move by rejoining a cricket academy at Nehru Stadium marking the first major turning point in his life.

At the academy, he met his first life coach, Shoaib Sayyed, who played a pivotal role not only in shaping his cricketing skills but also in transforming his personality. Beyond training him as an athlete, his coach worked extensively on confidence-building, communication skills, discipline, and overall personal development.

This phase of life was also marked by extreme financial hardship. Sagar Gupta was unable to afford academy fees, match expenses, food, or travel costs. During this period, his coach stood by him completely, supporting him financially and emotionally by covering all essential expenses. This support allowed Sagar to focus entirely on growth rather than survival.

He spent five years at the academy during what would become the most challenging yet formative phase of his life. With no stable income or financial security, he committed himself fully to cricket. Alongside training, he worked as a cricket coach, conducting morning and evening batches and training 50 to 60 students during summer camps. He also coached under-17 teams, handling responsibilities such as player management, match travel, and logistics at a young age.

These experiences instilled in him real-world lessons in leadership, accountability, discipline, and responsibility skills that would later prove invaluable beyond sports.

During this time, Sagar Gupta also explored entrepreneurship by joining an MLM company, eBiz, investing approximately ₹32,000. Despite working with the company for nearly 1.5 years without earning any income, the experience exposed him to professional communication, presentation skills, and confidence-building through mentorship.

Academically, Sagar Gupta made unconventional choices. He skipped a year of college to focus entirely on cricket coaching, completed his 11th and 12th standards from SM Joshi College while prioritizing cricket, and later secured admission at Appasaheb Jedhe College after a one-year gap. He eventually completed his MBA from Subharati Swami Vivekananda University while simultaneously working, further strengthening his professional foundation.

The most significant breakthrough came in 2019, when he joined Pride. For the first time, he received structured, step-by-step professional training in client handling, English communication, business etiquette, and workplace conduct. After nearly six years of consistent effort without financial return, this marked the beginning of financial stability and independence.

Over time, Sagar Gupta achieved a level of financial freedom that once seemed unimaginable. His professional growth opened doors to international exposure, allowing him to travel to seven countries, including Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Oman. He also experienced a four-day international cruise journey at a young age.

Further milestones included attending global business and technology events such as GITEX and the One Million Summit, where he gained exposure to international entrepreneurs, innovation, and global business ecosystems. These experiences marked his entry into global networking and professional circles, significantly expanding his worldview.

Today, Sagar Gupta has reached a stage where he has the opportunity to work from Dubai, a personal and professional achievement he considers one of his proudest milestones. Reflecting on his journey from a quiet, underconfident child in India to working internationally, he believes that every struggle and delay was part of a larger plan preparing him for the life he leads today.

Guided by strong personal values, he believes in never causing harm to others and trusting that perseverance, integrity, and faith will ultimately lead to better opportunities.
